A lot of great advice coupled with some overly-long illustrations. Necessary stories, just could have been condensed a bit.Addendum - While I am against what I am about to write when it comes to others, I am writing it anyway. About 12 months ago, the Kindle version I purchased cost more than $15. Now (Jan 22), I see it is down to just $2. Yes, criticize this addendum, but I still hold to my 5-star review of the book's awesome content. I'm just doing a little venting. Sorry.

I'm not easily enamored with all the leadership books out there, but Henry's new book brings a unique perspective that I'm finding helpful in my own leadership and as I coach other leaders. The general premise, that you as a leader really are responsible for and have control over setting the culture and achieving the results you hope for, is good. Henry brings a range of contributing factors in each chapter. On the downside, the book is somewhat simplistic, somewhat lacking in really practical help, and most annoying of all, Henry is the savior of every illustrated plight..."so, I was consulting this CEO and I asked her this one question, and walla, her company was saved." Of course, publishers love this kind stuff, but it drives me crazy. But, if you can get past that, and really think through the implications in your own leadership and how you coach other leaders, the general principles here are actually on the money, and very helpful

I enjoyed most of the book, but the last chapter was worth the entire book. It is where the gold was. I learned more in that chapter than the rest of the book combined.Personally, I think Dr. Cloud should have focused on that area more than any other.The book is chalk full of illustrations and stories to fill in the gap between practical real life and theory.Thank you Sir!

Dr. Henry Cloud does a nice job describing common pitfalls management makes and then explains how to empower yourself or leadership teams to get a result. It is an easy read and at Chapter 2 the reader understands that he is ridiculously in charge and the sky is the limit for his business if he can get his management teams to also realize this. Consequently the manager can make decisions to get more out of employees. He may possibly decide which managers or employees are not part of the solution and not helping the company succeed. Understanding what the leader has created and what he has allowed educates the leader to realize the best and worst his leadership has created and allowed and take charge and make changes. This book is not a 10 step book but does have questions at the end of each chapter. It deals with communication skills as well as leadership issues and the reader may see himself or his leadership teams in a different light after reading it and choose a different path to success.

If your still in business after 3 years, it means you probably have a good sense of product, people and procedures. This is a great look at the culture that naturally forms around the PPP and how to keep growing by intentional building a healthy business culture (or jumpstart stagnant growth).

It's a leadership book worth reading. Henry makes you realize how important it is to take charge and really drive the culture. I've been through training and coaches that really focus on numbers for performance, but that always generates eventual poor results. When you focus on helping lead your team in a great environment everyone wins.

This book was life-changing for me. I learned so much about leadership and being on a team in general. Highly recommended for everyone, not just leaders.
