This work on architectural design and creativity targets both students and practitioners, clearly, albeit pedantically, articulating each phase of the design process. The first part introduces basic concepts and objective components of the design process. The next part deals with the subjective visualization inherent in sketching, modeling, and reworking. Potentially the most interesting, the third part consists of interviews with eight U.S. architects, including Steve Badanes, R. Scott Johnson, and Bart Prince. Unfortunately, the interviews, while far-ranging, tend to meander. Three hundred sketches and illustrations reinforce the book's practical, how-to orientation. A satisfactory but not essential choice for college and architecture and design libraries.
